The Best Rock Albums of 2009

There is a lot of new music that is becoming quite popular this year.  One of the genres that are seeing a lot of activity is rock.  There are old and new groups that are producing great albums that are rising on the music charts.  Below are some contenders that are in the running for the best rock album of 2009.

The Silversun Pickups have a new album out called Swoon, which has plenty of great songs.  One song that is currently on the charts is called Panic Switch.  This group also had another hit, Lazy Eye, which put this band on the charts.  This band was formed in Los Angeles and has opened for various groups like the Foo Fighters.

Another group that is producing hit songs, is Kings of Leon.  The band formed in 2000 in Nashville, TN and have created a unique sound that many people find very appealing.  Their new album , Only by the Night, is getting great exposure with songs like 'Use Somebody' and 'Sex On Fire.' 

A veteran rock band that is turning out new music is Pearl Jam.  This group has produced some of the best rock albums during their carrer and they are putting out a new album that came out September 20th, called Backspacer.  One of the songs from this album, Fixer, is getting great reviews from long-time fans.  This album will surely have a shot at being one of the best rocks albums of 2009.

Alice In Chains is another rock group that has produced some great rock music.  Their new album, Black gives way to Blue, currently has a number one track called 'Check My Brains.'  This has been a long awaited album since the death of front man, Layne Staley.  The current song has been holding their place in the top charts for awhile. 

A titan in the rock music world is none other than U2.  This group has been producing great albums for decades.  The newest album called, No Line on the Horizon, is getting great reviews.  The songs that the band has created on this album has fans in a frenzy.

With the year almost over, there is still room for more rock albums to try and make their way to the top spot claiming the title of one of the best rock albums of 2009.
